UV Systems Are Being Used Around The World
Save Energy, Enhance IAQ & Destroy Harmful
Viruses, Molds, Bacteria and Micro-organisms

Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) is a
non-chemical based green technology that is saving
hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for facility owners,
operators and managers.
UVGI has been used for decades in HVACR equipment serving Health Care Facilities, Schools, Universities and Colleges, Office Buildings, Government Facilities, and Food Processing Facilities to reduce electricity usage, minimize maintenance and lower operating costs. Added benefits include improving indoor air and environmental quality (IAQ/IEQ) and reducing the risks associated with airborne microorganisms and infectious diseases.
|
When properly applied, UV Systems become a low cost solution with very fast paybacks that have multiple benefits for all types of facilities.
UVGI operates in the wavelength of UV-C and
photo-disassociates molecular bonds of most all organic substances such that it inactivates, kills and/or destroys mold, bacteria and their products and contaminants found in most any HVACR system serving commercial, industrial and institutional buildings everywhere.
UV Systems are easily installed in any facility
including: homes, healthcare facilities,
universities and schools, military bases as well as many critical and high security
areas around the world.
Popular locations to place UV Systems include: Air Handling Units, Unit Ventilators, PTAC's, Supply and Return Air systems, Patient Waiting Rooms, and more recently used to disinfect and sanitize surface areas in patient rooms, operating rooms, classrooms and locker rooms.
UV System Types
(ASHRAE Chapter 16 – 2008)
- In-Duct Air Stream Disinfection
- On-The-Fly-Kill capabilities for target microbes.
- Used in air handling units, supply and exhaust ducts.
- Air Handler Component Surface Disinfection
- Destruction of microbes, molds and organics on surfaces.
- Used on cooling coils, drain pans & interior surfaces of
AHU’s.
- Upper-Air UVGI Systems
- Deactivation of microbes floating in rooms.
- Placed near the ceiling in waiting rooms,
operating rooms & emergency rooms.

What does ASHRAE say about UVC lights?
It is "relatively easy, using lower levels of UV, to maintain heat exchange efficiency, design airflow, and to improve indoor air quality
..."
ASHRAE Systems & Equipment Handbook 2008 Pg. 16.6
Among "the major costs of UVC is maintenance cost (primarily lamp replacement), and energy costs (direct electrical cost of lamp operation) ..."
ASHRAE Applications Handbook 2011 Pg. 60.10
Applied Concepts & Technologies Corp. has done the due-diligence
on what UVGI applications make sense and utilizes the
"Best of the best" UV Systems available today.
